SUV But Still Impressive - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Laura - September 5 - 5:06 pmDid really well for an suv-gas mileage wise. It only dropped about 1 and a half mpg when a/c was on continuous which is impressive considering the shape of the vehicle. You can only get so good of mileage in a suv.

My Baby - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Miss Lou - August 27 - 3:43 amI was amazed at the performance the Escape provided. It is a sharp looking small SUV, just right for me to drive all around town, to the grocery, nursery, and any other place I have a need to haul something. My friends like it too; it is very comfortable for passengers. I will probably keep this car for a long time.

Excellent value for a small SUV - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Hybrid Tom - August 14 - 8:00 pmThe Escape Hybrid looks much smaller than it is. Interior space is much more than it appears. With tax credits, the cost equaled a V-6 with 4 cylinder MPG. Overall, no problems, and lots of approval from the tree huggers.

Fuel Efficient - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Debbie - June 13 - 10:10 amI traded in my 2001 XLT explorer for the 05 Escape Hybrid. I was tired of the high gas prices at $2.49 a gallon. I was spending $80.00 a week on gas to commute to work and back home with my Explorer. I bought my Escape Memorial weekend. The Escape doesnt have the power like my Explorer did, but I wanted something that was fuel efficient. So there are trade offs. Other than that, I love my Escape hybrid.

Hybrid? Yeah right! - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Mike - June 3 - 10:26 amGas mileage is VERY disappointing! The car has been in over 10 times for various issues. The shocks were replaced at 4,000 miles. The car needed a full alignment at 4,500 miles. I have another appointment tomorrow to investigate the terrible gas mileage, noises when turning, gas fume smells and the infamous clicking noise in the rear has appeared again. If you are looking for an Escape - go for it! Just do NOT get the Hybrid! I had a regular Escape when they first came out and was great. Ford just doesnt have this down yet.

Some Good; some bad - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By smokingpizza - May 22 - 3:50 amMoved from an Eddie Bauer Expedition to a fully loaded Escape Hybrid. Ford understands large people (Im 64" 300 lbs) and the Escape is comfortable. Mileage is good, but not as good as expected. Ranging 25-28 mpg. Performance with the boost from the electric motor is good, but the CVT takes some getting used to; it revs motor much higher than Im used to on acceleration and engine whine is loud. Handles well for an SUV. Things I had on the Expedition that I miss more than I thought I would: temp control air/heat, exterior keypad on door, memory seats/mirrors/pedals, and storage room. Probably would not buy again for reasons stated under suggested improvements.

my new hybrid - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By dave - May 19 - 9:10 amReally glad we got it. Good for the environment (eventually we will all have hybrids). Wanted an suv but not the lousy mileage. Getting about 29-30 mpg in the first 1500 miles (pretty much all city stuff). The technology is unbelievable. Could only get $1k off sticker but even that was good comparatively. No hesitation about getting this car.

Sales - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Sales - May 2 - 2:03 amAnyone in the outside sales industry should think about getting this vehicle. You get 32 MPG in the city and about 29 MPG on the highway. I lug about 300 pounds of catalogs a day and still get this type of MPG. The price tag is the only problem with it over $25K if you factor that in you might want to think twice.

2006 Ford Escape - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By Pete Hunt - March 30 - 11:23 pmGas mileage is not as great as expected but my previous Ford was an F-150 (V-8) so it was an improvement in the pockets.

Great Car.... but - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
By phdmam - March 6 - 5:41 amI got it new and have been saving money on gas every mile I drive it. I have done my math, and save a gallon for every gallon of gas I use. Cons...-- Tires do not last long, on my 3rd set at 80k. Front end suspension is a problem - just fixed all my tie rods (the were old and torn) (I have had 20 year old Hondas with 175k and never changed a tie rod). Just changed my 2nd tone (ABS sensor) rings because they are exposed to the elements and break from rust. Overall, great car, no expenses to change antifreeze yet, no expenses for transmission fluids (lifetime). My kids are of driving age, and I think I will get another FEH
